Audit Service Sierra Leone Signs MoU with Anti-Corruption Commission

The Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) has signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in order to ensure that accountability always work in collaboration with government entities. The ceremony was held at the Freetown City Council Building in Freetown on 13th October, 2022.

During the signing ceremony, the Acting Auditor-General, Mr Abdul Aziz, welcomed all participants and thanked the ACC for their relentless effort in partnering with the Audit Service over the years. He noted that the ACC and the ASSL are partners in the accountability sector and as strategic partners, they have a responsibility to prioritise accountability and transparency in their work. Mr Aziz emphasised that the two institutions will ensure that they translate what is in the document so that it will benefit the citizens and the resources given for the affairs of the state are used judiciously.

The Commissioner of the ACC, Mr Francis Ben-Kaifala Esq stated that both institutions work towards ensuring that there is accountability in the public space, adding that there is a need for them to review the relationship, learning from the past and preparing better for the future. Commissioner Kelfala stated that the renewal of the MoU played a significance role in putting Sierra Leone on the map especially in fighting corruption, maladministration, supporting the work of government and holding officials accountable
